Residency Restaurant and Steel Bar coming to Kelham

Residency Restaurant, the new venture from former Masterchef contestant Chris Hale promises to ‘change’ the way you dine in Kelham Island

A former MasterChef contestant has revealed plans to set up a ‘permanent pop-up’… stay with us… in Kelham Island’s Steel Yard, on Bardwell Road.

The idea is that Residency, a 40-seater restaurant housed inside shipping containers, will become home to a new restaurant, or pop-up, every month.

Each new tenant can take the restaurant in whatever direction they like, within reason, while the owners will take care of the attached Steel Bar that will boast, the admittedly small milestone, ‘biggest beer garden in Kelham!’

The restaurant and bar will be made up of five shipping containers, with two dedicated to the bar and two to the restaurant, separated by a central container, which will house the kitchen.

Chris Hale, The MasterChef quarter finalist and executive chef at The Hepworth Wakefield, said: “It’s something new. It’s going to be a different restaurant every month. Idea is that they run a proper sit down restaurant, not going pizza parlour but not going Joro either, somewhere in the middle.”
